Farmland Consolidation is mainly meant to improve agricultural management environment and enhance production efficiency, which had been conducted by the Bureau for 251 districts since 1968 to the end of 2008, with square measure of 142,116 ha. Early Farmland Consolidation was mainly meant to improve farmland roads and water roads in the readjusted districts completed before 1971, which had been conducted by the Bureau for 465 districts since 1988 to the end of 2008, with square measure of 63,491 ha.
Rural Community Land Consolidation is mainly meant to improve rural life environment to facilitate the reasonable usage of the land, which had been conducted by the Bureau for 49 districts of initial stage planning since 1987 to the end of 2008, with square measure of 412 ha., in which 18 districts were conducted for constructions, with square measure of 127 ha. Besides, since 2005, the Bureau has hosted the ¡§Demonstrative 4-years (from the year of 2005 to the year of 2008) Plan for Rural Community Land Consolidation. The budgets had been arranged and allocated to subsidize county or city governments fully to conduct the work of Rural Community Land Consolidation. From 2005 to the end of 2008, local governments were subsidized to conduct 22 districts of initial stage planning, with square measure of 168 ha.; Non-urban Land Development Permission for 12 districts, with square measure of 93 ha; Engineering Design for 13 districts, with square measure of 110 ha.; Consolidation Constructions for 13 districts, with square measure of 81 ha. The plan will be conducted in two stages. In the first stage, the to-be-implemented districts are the districts that had been conducted to complete initial stage planning subsidized by Rural Community Land Consolidation plans from the year of 2005 to the year of 2008 or conducted to complete initial stage planning by the expenses prepared by county governments themselves in accordance with the approval from Ministry of the Interior. In the second stage, after the ¡§Statute of Rural Renewal¡¨ is legislated completely, the work related to Rural community Land Consolidation will be conducted cooperatively with its Total Plan for Rural Renewal. The total budget for this plan is 14.61 hundred million NT dollars. It is expected that initial stage planning will be conducted for 40 districts, Non-urban Land Development Permission for 28 districts, Engineering Design for 23 districts, and Consolidation Constructions for 17 districts.
